Online Screen Recorder

Free, no sign-up, no watermark. Pick what to record to begin.

What do you want to record?

Pick one to start.

Your browser will ask for permission. Recordings stay on this device, nothing is uploaded.

Pick what to record

Then tap the red button

Everything you need, nothing to install

Simple enough for a first recording, with the pro tools there when you want them.

No watermark, no time limit

Recordings are never stamped or capped by the tool. Length is limited only by the free space your browser gives this site.

Screen + webcam

Record a screen, window or browser tab with your camera as a movable bubble, side by side or stacked, and keep every source as its own track for later edits.

Mic + system audio

Capture your microphone with noise suppression plus tab or system audio when the browser offers it, with a live level meter while you talk.

Trim and download

Set a start and end point on any scene, rename it, and download MP4 or WebM video, audio only, or a short GIF.

Crash-resilient scenes

Recording chunks are written to browser storage as they arrive, so completed and interrupted scenes stay on your device.

Presenter tools

Countdown, pause and resume, keyboard shortcuts, a pen to draw on the recording, camera background blur, and a teleprompter.

How to record your screen online

  1. Choose screen, window or tab

Choose Screen or Screen + camera, then pick an entire screen, a single window or a browser tab in your browser’s picker. Tick “Share audio” there to include system or tab sound.

  2. Add webcam and microphone

Allow your camera and mic when the browser asks. Use the Camera and Mic buttons to switch devices, blur your background or mute, and Layout to place your camera.

  3. Record, trim and download

Press Start recording (or R), pause with P, and press Stop when done. Drag the trim handles, rename it, and click Download MP4 (Download WebM in browsers that record WebM), or open the arrow beside it for a GIF.

Record a Zoom, Meet or Teams call

Meetings are what most people come here to record. Try the meeting app’s own recorder first: it tells everyone that recording has started. When it isn’t available to you, a call held in a browser tab can be recorded here with everyone’s voices and your own, once everyone has agreed. Choose Screen, share the meeting tab with its audio, and press Start recording.

Whichever you use, tell people before you record them, and check your organisation’s rules and the law where you are.

Before you hit record: FAQ

How do I record my screen with audio?

Click Screen, choose what to share, and tick “Share tab audio” or “Share system audio” in the browser’s picker. Keep the microphone on to add your voice. Tab audio works in Chromium browsers such as Chrome and Edge; system audio for an entire screen is available on Windows and ChromeOS.

Why is there no sound in my screen recording?

Usually the audio box in the share picker was not ticked, or a window was shared (browsers can’t capture audio from a single window). macOS does not let browsers capture system audio from the entire screen, so share a browser tab instead. Also check the microphone isn’t muted: the level meter on the mic button moves when it hears you.

Is there a time limit?

No. recorder.video doesn’t cap recording length. Recordings are saved in your browser’s storage, so the practical limit is the free disk space your browser allows this site, which you can check under More > Settings.

Does recorder.video cost anything or stamp a logo on my video?

No and no. Recording is free, and nothing is stamped on the MP4 you download: no logo and no watermark.

Do I need to install anything or sign up?

No. It runs in a modern browser with no extension, download or account. Your browser will ask permission to use the camera, microphone and screen.

Does recorder.video upload my recording?

No. Capture, previews, editing and downloads happen in your browser and recordings stay in your browser’s storage. There is no upload path in this tool.

Does it work on Mac, Windows, Linux and Chromebook?

Yes, in modern desktop browsers on macOS, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS. Chrome and Edge have the broadest support (tab audio, picture-in-picture controls); Firefox and Safari can record the screen, camera and microphone where their APIs allow.

Can I use it on iPhone or Android?

Mobile browsers don’t allow websites to capture the screen, so on phones and tablets you can record your camera and microphone only. Use your phone’s built-in screen recorder for the screen itself.

Can I record just one window or browser tab?

Yes. When you click Screen, the browser lets you choose an entire screen, a single window or a tab. Recording a tab is the easiest way to include that tab’s audio.

What format are the downloads?

MP4 when your browser can record it (recent Chrome, Edge and Safari), otherwise WebM. You can pick MP4 or WebM under Download format in More > Settings, download audio only, or make a short GIF of up to 20 seconds.

Can I trim a recording afterwards?

Yes. Select a recording under Your recordings, drag the yellow start and end handles on the timeline (or press I and O at the playhead), and the trim is applied when you download. The original recording is kept, so you can change the trim later.

Can I change the layout after recording?

Partly. The downloaded video keeps the layout you recorded with, but screen, camera and microphone are also saved as separate source tracks for each scene, so you can preview a different layout later or download the sources as a ZIP to rearrange in an editor.

Can websites detect that I’m recording my screen?

Websites and apps generally can’t tell that you are recording your screen with this tool. Your browser shows you its own indicator while a screen, tab, camera or microphone is being shared. Some copy-protected video players appear black in recordings.

What happens if the browser crashes during a recording?

Chunks are saved to IndexedDB while recording. On the next load, unfinished scenes are marked as recovered so you can review and download what was written before the crash.
