Is this online voice recorder free?
Yes. It’s free with no account, no watermark and no time limit set by the tool. Recording happens in your browser.
Record your voice from any microphone, right in your browser. Trim it and download the audio, free, with no sign-up and nothing uploaded.
Start a new scene from one source or combine screen and camera.
recorder.video works as a simple microphone recorder: pick a mic, press Record and talk. Each take is saved in your browser as you go; then you trim it and download the audio. Nothing is uploaded, you don’t need an account, and the tool doesn’t limit how long you can record.
Use it for voice memos, voiceovers, podcast drafts, interview answers, language practice or catching an idea before it goes. You can say no to camera access; the recorder still works with just the microphone.
Allow microphone access, then turn the Camera off (or press C) so only the mic is live. If nothing is live yet, choose Audio, “Record microphone audio only”.
Open the mic menu to pick a microphone and set noise suppression, echo cancellation and auto gain. The level meter on the mic button moves as you speak.
Press Record (or R), pause with P, and stop when you’re done. Trim the ends, then open the scene’s menu and choose Audio only to download the file.
Each recording is a scene in the Scenes list. Open its menu to choose a download:
There’s no MP3 or WAV export. M4A plays in most apps and editors. If a site insists on MP3, convert the file with an audio converter after downloading.
The mic menu exposes your browser’s built-in voice processing. Noise suppression reduces steady background noise like fans, echo cancellation removes sound picked up from your speakers, and auto gain evens out your level. All three are on by default, which suits speech. Turn them off when recording music or an instrument, so the browser doesn’t treat it as noise.
For the best voice recording, use a USB or headset microphone, wear headphones, and keep a steady distance from the mic. Watch the level meter: it should move clearly when you speak.
Audio is saved to your browser’s storage in chunks while you record, so a crash or a closed tab doesn’t lose the take: the scene is recovered when you come back. Nothing is sent to a server. Settings shows how much space your recordings use, and deleting scenes you’ve downloaded (and clearing old entries from recent exports) frees it again.

Yes. Deny camera access or turn the Camera off (C), and only your microphone is recorded. If no source is live, choose Audio, “Record microphone audio only”.
Audio only downloads are M4A (AAC) when your browser records MP4, as recent Chrome, Edge and Safari do, otherwise WebM (Opus). There is no MP3 or WAV export.
No. Capture, trimming and downloads all happen in your browser, and recordings are stored in your browser’s storage until you delete them.
The tool sets no limit. Recordings are stored in your browser, so the practical limit is the free disk space your browser allows this site, which you can check in Settings.
Yes. Mobile browsers let websites use the microphone, so you can record your voice on a phone or tablet and download the audio.
Yes, as a screen recording. Click Screen, share a browser tab with its audio (or, on Windows and ChromeOS, an entire screen with system audio), then download Audio only to keep just the sound.
Yes. Transcribe a recording on your device with an AI speech model that detects about 99 languages. Your audio is never uploaded. Edit the transcript, then download it as an .srt or .vtt caption file. The model (about 75 MB) downloads once, the first time you use it. Automatic transcripts can make mistakes, especially with background noise, so read it through.
