How do I screen record on a Samsung with sound?
Tap Screen recorder in the quick panel and choose Media sounds for the phone’s sound, or Media sounds and mic to add your voice, then tap Start recording.
Swipe down from the top of the screen, tap Screen recorder, choose a sound setting and tap Start recording. Tap the stop button in the floating toolbar when you’re done; the video goes to Gallery.
Free, no sign-up, no watermark. Pick what to record to begin.
Pick one to start. You can add or switch sources any time.
Your browser will ask for permission. Recordings stay on this device, nothing is uploaded.
Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets have a screen recorder built into One UI. It records the screen with no sound, with the phone’s media sound, or with media sound plus your voice, and can show your face from the front camera in a small window. Recordings are saved to Gallery like any other video.
The steps below match recent One UI versions on Galaxy S, Z, A and Tab models; menus move slightly between versions, and the general Android method is in the Android screen recording guide. A website can’t record a phone’s screen, so recorder.video on a Galaxy records your camera and microphone only.
Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the quick panel; on recent One UI, swipe down from the top right. Swipe again if you only see a few buttons.
Tap the Screen recorder button. If it isn’t there, tap the edit (pencil) button in the panel and add Screen recorder to your buttons.
Pick None, Media sounds, or Media sounds and mic, depending on whether you want silence, the phone’s sound, or the phone’s sound plus your voice.
Tap Start recording. After a three-second countdown, a small toolbar appears with buttons for drawing, the front camera and stopping.
Tap the stop button in the toolbar. The recording is saved in Gallery, usually in the Screen recordings album.
| Setting | Records | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| None | No sound at all | Silent clips, or when you’ll add music later |
| Media sounds | Sound from apps, games and videos | Gameplay and app demos |
| Media sounds and mic | App sound plus your voice | Tutorials with narration |
The option names vary a little between One UI versions (Samsung’s settings list calls them None, Media and Media and mic). Streaming and some calling apps block their sound or picture in recordings, so a silent or black result from those apps isn’t a fault.
Touch and hold the Screen recorder button in the quick panel to open its settings:
During a recording, tap the person icon in the toolbar to show your face from the front camera; drag the window to move it. Tap the pencil to draw on the screen with your finger or S Pen. Some tablets, such as the Galaxy Tab A8, don’t offer the front-camera window.
Open Gallery and look in Albums for Screen recordings, or simply at the top of Pictures. In My Files, they’re in Internal storage under DCIM, in the Screen recordings folder. To share one, open it in Gallery and tap the share button; to trim it, tap the edit (pencil) button.
Open recorder.video in Samsung Internet or Chrome and it records your Camera or Audio only; the screen options are hidden because Android browsers can’t share the screen with a web page. It’s handy for a quick video message with background blur or a teleprompter, or a voice note you can download as a file. For narrated screen recordings, use Samsung’s recorder; for one with your webcam in a bubble, use a computer and record your screen and webcam together.
Tap Screen recorder in the quick panel and choose Media sounds for the phone’s sound, or Media sounds and mic to add your voice, then tap Start recording.
In the quick panel: swipe down from the top of the screen. If the button isn’t there, tap the edit (pencil) button and add Screen recorder.
To Gallery, in the Screen recordings album. In My Files they’re under Internal storage > DCIM > Screen recordings.
Yes, on most models. Tap the person icon in the recording toolbar to show the front camera in a small window, and set its size in the Screen recorder settings.
Tap the stop button in the floating toolbar. If you’ve hidden the toolbar, open the quick panel and stop it from the recording notification.
The sound setting was None, or the app you recorded blocks its audio. Choose Media sounds or Media sounds and mic before you start.
